Mark your calendar as the holiday season is upon us! Grand Meander is just around the corner and all the staff at the Hen House is getting excited. Bring the entire family downtown and enjoy all the wonderful live window displays, hot chocolate stands, ice sculptures, Christmas concerts by tuba ensembles, and much more.
Most Spencer residents know that our city has been selected as an Iowa Great Place, and one of the reasons we think Spencer is such a “great place” to live, work and play is the annual downtown Grand Meander.
If you have never attended Grand Meander, you are in for a wonderful treat! Practically every downtown storefront features a live window display and all up and down the streets merchants are serving hot chocolate or hot apple cider. Many also offer complimentary cookies to go with the warm drinks. Downtown Spencer becomes a true winter wonderland on this special night.
As we mentioned earlier, Monday, December 7th is the date of Grand Meander this year, and all the celebrations begin at 5pm. Get into town early for choice parking and be sure you meander by the Hen House!

Come in and check out our kids department for puzzles, stuffed animals by beeposh&jellycat, dolls by Carolle, books, and games. Babies will adore our so soft and cuddly blankets. Squeak me shoes are comfortable and flexible with non-skid soles,encourages walking,and you can hear where your child is at all times. Stylish and fun for ages 6 months to 3 years. For quite times,the squeaker can be easily removed by an adult.
